Little did people around the world know that the Bhopal gas tragedy happened 37 years ago in 1984, which affected many people. On the night of December 2, 1984, one of the world’s worst industrial disasters occurred at the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal. The Union Carbide factory became a gas station when 40 tonnes of Methyl-Isocyanate leaked on the night of 02/12/1984. According to the official statistics of National Center Of Biotechnology Information 3800 people died instantly that night. Most of the 3,800 people who died were residents of the ‘basti’ closest to the factory. The unofficial death toll was many times higher than this official statistic.
Next morning on 03/12/1984, the streets of Bhopal were littered with corpses of humans and animals. And hospitals were overflowing with patients with burning eyes and compressed chests. Terrors have wreaked havoc in the area and people have died.
