India and Australia share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (ieComprehensive Strategic Partnership) since June 2020. Defense is the main pillar of this Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
During the DPT Talks (ieDefence Policy Talks), the two countries reviewed bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries and explored new initiatives to further strengthen and deepen bilateral defense engagements.The discussions also focused on identifying ways to strengthen partnership in co-development and co-production of defense equipment between India and Australia (ieIdentifying ways to strengthen partnership in co-development and co-production of defense equipment), the Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD – Ministry Of Defence) said. “Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership based on Mutual trust and Understanding, Common Interests and Shared Values of Democracy and Rule of Law,” New Delhi said.The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Indo-Australian Defense Cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) is offered by the Quadrilateral Group, or Quad, a group of four countries comprising the US, Japan, Australia and India.Every year, these four quad navies participate in a major multilateral maritime exercise called Exercise Malabar.
