Ramadan is the most important holy month of the Islamic people accordcing to the Islamic calendar. According to Islamic legends, the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad in this month. Popularly known as Ramzan, Ramadan, this festival is also known as Eidul Fitr. The Tamil calendar is calculated based on the movement of the Sun. Ramadan fasting is one of the five basic duties of Islam. Throughout the month of Ramadan, fasting is observed every day until sunset. Ramadan is celebrated on the 30th day after the sighting of the crescent moon.Muslims count months based on the movement of the moon. Ramadan is considered to be the month of coming closer to God, the month when the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of hell are closed, and it is a month full of many benefits. Ramadan fasting begins in the 9th month of the Islamic calendar.
