This year Diwali festival is going to be celebrated on the 12th day of November. As it falls on a Sunday, the crowd will be even more crowded. Due to this, many people going from Chennai to their hometowns are suffering from not getting a bus. To remedy this, bookings for train travel started two days in advance. A large number of people were eagerly waiting to book online in the booking which started at 8 am yesterday.Most of the tickets are sold out within the first 10 minutes of booking. Mainly trains from Chennai to Madurai and trains to Tirunelveli got empty tickets. After that the sleeper tickets to Kanyakumari were also sold out. Following this, ticket booking for people who want to travel on November 10 started today at 8 am. Even this morning, the tickets were sold out shortly after the bookings started.Passengers have alleged that the booking of South District trains only takes a few seconds to get a waiting list. Most of the trains like Nellai Express, Coimbatore Express, Kanyakumari Express etc. were sold out. Passengers say the few remaining trains have waiting lists of over 200 people. Passengers waiting to buy tickets at the counter since 3 am faced great disappointment as they did not get tickets.
